Lisdan comprises the southwestern subcontinent and a section of the
Eastern Continent proper. Due to this split landmass, the Lisdanese
developed as a nautical race, and were not one of the initial five members of the Üaharte Council. Modern theories believe they actually immigrated to the Eastern Continent after a schism with their long-lost people in the unexplored south. Despite this early isolation, the
Lisdanese quickly became integral to the development of sciences and
philosophy. Indeed, it was the Lisdanese who
charted the oceans, the skies, and gave innumerable discoveries to
medicine, chemistry, alchemy, OreCraft, physics, and engineering. This is why Lisdanese remains the official language of the sciences; Ul-Zaorith is, in fact, Lisdanese for
"Fourth Planet."
The Lisdanese people are unique in being the only sapient people who are incapable of casting magic. By and large, the Lisdanese do not
believe in its existence and have long pursued the sciences in the hopes
of unravelling this pervasive mystery. Indeed, their many technological
inventions (including Modified Pole-Arms, firearms, siege weapons, advanced Alchemy, surgery, etc.) have been their response to the
advantages used by magic-casting peoples. Despite this one shortcoming, they are generally cheerful, inquisitive people who believe in navigating fate to better their chances in future reincarnations.
