Speritan

Land of the Speritanians, and the wealthiest country in the world. Speritan has the most political clout due to their strong economy, massive army and strong naval fleets. They have, at some point in their history, attempted to conquer every nation in the world. Their capitol is also built over the layers of civilization that saw the rise of sentient races from the creatures of the land. The area is called the Uahartë, and is the cradle of life.

A few terms to clarify:
Speritan:
The country of Speritan.
Speritanian: The English adaptation for the people of Speritan. In Speritanian they refer to themselves as the Ingselm.
Speritanian: The English adaptation of the language of the Speritanian people. They usually refer to is as Saletos e Speritan, which is where the adaptation comes from that is used in other countries. In Suoro, it is called Saletos, in Bodove Saltoss, in Lisdan and Muzin Zalatos.

Kigäli Ebärat ~ A Speritanian

The Country
Speritan is an expansive company with many provinces each known for their own qualities. On the whole, however, and certainly from an outsider's perspective, Speritan is a marshy, forested land full of swamps, bogs, moors, deciduous forests, low hills and bramble thickets. The climate is generally one of rain, mist, damp, cold and dark within the tangled foliage. There are a few pockets of heat - namely the hot springs, and the fire marshes, and the Dragon Bogs where the fire-breathing Speritanian dragons dwell. Some satirists claim that the drive in the speritanian people to expand and conquer is merely a need to escape their own depressive climbs.

Geography:

Government:
Speritan's government has been in place for roughly 1300 years, and has not greatly changed in that time. The system evolved from the Lord's Round which preceeded it, and even to this day is largely made up of noblemen. It is a semi-democratic system, in that each region will have a certain number of noblemen to choose from, including barons, counts, viscounts, dukes, earls, knights, paladins and the occasional yarl. Of those candidates local to the province, the noblemen will hold court once every 4 years and with entitlements, endowments of land and promises vie for the people's affections. This generally means that the wealthiest of the candidates wins the Senate seat, but on a few memorable occasions, the most influential has been the most charismatic, the most pious or even the most skilled in martial or political prowess. Once raised to a Senator's seat, it is generally easy enough to become re-elected in the following running, unless one has committed some grievous offense. In this way, some estates have Senatorial dynasties, where the heir will ascend to take his father's place and continue the representation for a specific area, and so forth.
The Senate itself is merely a council that advises the King. The King of Speritan still holds veto and empowerment rights, but generally he will assign his senators to organize certain affairs. In this way, the King will entitle this Senator to organize and maintain Martial Affairs, while this Senator will be in charge of relations with the Church, etc. The specifc titles and departments alters depending on what political goals are popular or needful at any given time, but the general titles are:
Senator of Martial Affairs, also known as the High Martial
Senator of Ecclesiastical Affairs, also known as the High Paladin
Senator of Public Works, also known as High Chamberlain
Senator of Foreign Affairs, also known as High Ambassador
Senator of Internal Affairs, also known as High Minister
Senator of the Royal Coffers, also known as High Treasurer
Senator of the Royal Chronicles, also known as High Secretary
Senator of the Academies, also known as High Magistrate
Senator of the Trade Guilds, also known as High Administrator.

Together they run the countries more minor affairs, and often take charge of situations so that they do not concern the King's busy schedule. Obviously a great deal of power comes with these titles, and the influence has been used in history to garner wealth, power, alliances - sometimes against other Senators, and even against the King during certain revolutions.

Monarchy:
The line of Kings in Speritan has been broken and reforged so many times, it is unlikely that there is any noble line in Speritan that has not at somepoint sat the throne. This said, there are a few things that have always remained constant:
Only a man may rule Speritan. A princess is useful only in political strategy of marriage (often to one of her own brothers). The eldest prince will inherit unless one of the following occurs: he dies before he can ascend, he is disinherited by his father, his father is dethroned before the prince's coronation. It has happened in certain years that the princes have had tournaments or fueds in order to eliminate their competition for the throne. While this is generally considered a dishonorable way to attain the throne, there have been periods in history (such as during the Druid's Genicide) in which it was thought to be the highest form of sport.
The King's duty was originally to govern his nobles and thereby his citizens. Once the Senate was implemented, his job became to rule his Senate, and through it his nobles and their people. His power is virtually unlimited within Speritan, though it is closely tied into the will of the Church. In some periods, the Church has even extended power to dispose a King who was said to be impious. In this respect, the Church still crowns each new King of Speritan, and the ceremony includes taking up the cloth of the Chruch.

Military:
The Speritanian Military is the largest military force in the world with more troops, fleets, and the first aerial fleet in Ul-Zaorith's history (not counting the Khorysaine Riders of Briandyna who fly creatures instead of air ships). They have an organized ground force which includes cavalry, archers, sappers, weapon machines including seige weapons, foot soldiers and melee combatants. Their nautical fleet has scouts, battleships, battle stations, carriers, and flanking crafts. Their aerial fleet cas battle air ships, bombers, magic weavers and scouts. All together, their current militia contains more than 10 million personelle. They have expensive equipment and various levels of training, and with their natural capacity for warfare and brute strength, they make a formiddible wall of force. With this army they have at some point in history tried or succeeded in invading and conquering every nation in Ul-Zaorith - on both continents. Their two successful attempts were the full occupation of Tirivahn for more than 800 years, and the anexing of Lisdan, the lnogest consecutive period being nearly 300 years.
Their border with Muzin is always in some state of unrest, but usually in riots, skirmishes and indecisive battles, rather than any push for land-holding. They have been in and out of a state of Cold War with Suoro for nearly a thousand years, and only in the last 600 or so has there been a relative state of peace.

Speritanians
The Speritanians are one of the first Five Clans of the Üaharte and descended from a bear-like creature called a ballus. Ballus have further evolved as our mammoths did to elephants, into a few smaller species, namely the banallus, bandusas and possibly the Tirivahni bears. The Speritanians have retained the ropey, thick musculature and toughness of their ballus ancestry. They also retained the ballus' love of moist, damp or rainy climates, possibly due to the flammable nature of their blood. While 'civilized' Speritanians are fairly smooth-skinned, the 'hethen' Speritanians of the wilds, swamps and western reaches of the country are still quite hairy, especially along the arms and legs, chest and even back.

Appearance:
Speritanians are a striking and often imposing race with their stark bold colouration of firetruck red skin and indigo hair. At a distance their red skin can almost look purple from the amount of thick curly body hair they have, though in many of the major cities, the fashion dictates that any exposed skin (such as the backs of hands or forearms) be shaved, and that beards on their men - while often worn long - be trimmed into smooth lines where the beard meets the skin of the cheeks or lips. Unibrows are common on both men and women and there have been periods in history where shaving or otherwise shaping the eyebrows into separate entities has been in fashion. Their head hair is rarely straight, but thick, luxurious and glossy. Because of its natural curl and volume, it is often kept braided for maintenance - including braiding or beading lengths of a man's beard to keep it from matting. Oils, waxes and greases are used to slick back the hair from the face, as well as for stiffening and shaping the elaborate knots of braids and shape that are achieved in women's hair fashions.
Speritanian eyes are "beetle-black and brittle-bright" to quote the Suoro poet, Siemonas. They are generally smaller in the face than human eyes, set rather close together and deep set beneath prominant eyebrow mounds. This combination of small, dark and smouldering eyes in a rough-skinned, thick-boned red face makes for a distinctive visage. Unmarried women wear facial paint around the eyes, cheeks and lips in blues, whites or yellows to show that she is 'unpurchased' and available. Once married, the women's garments and style of paint changes to show that she is married (discussed below in Fashion).
The physical shape of Speritanian men and women is perhaps the most starkly different of any gender comparisons of the races. The men are very top-heavy, with relatively short legs, broad shoulders, barrel-chests and often in old-age or gluttonous males huge bellies. The Speritanians have curiously small nimble feet and dextrous hands on the ends of their thick, muscular arms and legs which enables them to flip their bulk around with horrifying ease. The females, on the other hand, are extremely pear-shaped, and while they too have relatively long torsos to their short legs, their hips are very broad, with a great amount of buttock and rounded smallish shoulders with small round breasts. The females also tend to have smaller heads than the men and less lumpish facial features, though the full, pouty lips are even larger than on the men, and their jaws are a little less square. Men grow to about 5'8" to 6'6" where as the women grow from about 5'4" to 6'0".
The musculature of the Speritanian physique is built for strength - almost brutishly so. Their muscle is thick, ropey, defined and bulging. On the men, this is usually accompanied with thick veiny patterns where the blood vessels are pressed out towards the surface of their thick skin. On the women, they are endowed with thick deposits of fatty tissue so the lines of muscle do not show through the skin as much, but does lend them to obesity or flabby outward appearances despite natural strength. Along with epically strong muscles groupings, the Speritanians have very broad, thick, strong bones to support their muscles. Their frames are sturdy, solid and tough, but they don't tend to heal well if broken.

Comparative Statistics:
Intelligence: 7/16.
Speritanians are notoriously single-minded. Once set to a task they are hard to disuade or convince of an opposing side of view. They are generally quite blunt in speech, putting emphasis on points rather than embellishment. They are extremely tied to tradition, very poor at invention, but very good at learning kinesthetically. Their memories are not great, and so they make up for it with drilling, repetition and status. Titles and previous achievements hold a great deal of weight for them, often carrying one through debt, trial or accusation when skill ought to suffice. Because of this their law and economy hangs on a few delicate threads of truth, often being overpowered by the loudest or most insistent rather than the just.
Wisdom: 8/16. In Wisdom they are a little better. They feel deeply, but often have a hard time expressing themselves, especially in a culture with strict moral guidlines, arranged marriages and expectations. Women do not hold an equal status with men, regarded more as expensive and beautiful possessions than thinking persons of their own right. However, their faith in their deities - if misguided - is genuine and one of the strongest cohesive religious powers in the world. Their religion has been the cause or justification for more wars, atrocities and crimes than any other worldwide.
Agility: 13/16. Speritanians are surprisingly agile. For a physically dense and impressive race, they are quick turning on their feet, able to move their bulk, muscle and strength with such speed that they create a veritable battering ram of force at full stride. Their cpomparitively small hands and feet enable them to turn on a dime, and handle more delicate instruments when otherwise they'd crush them from sheer force. Their flexibility is also quite high in their youth, and if kept, trained and honed can enable them to achieve some impressive martial arts at full adulthood.
Strength: 16/16. Undeniably one of the strongest races in the world. Their muscle is dense and thick, with many layered bunches of muscle fibre, allowing them to achieve lifting 2 tons easily, and compounding this with gravity, built up speed or intense focus of some martial arts to almost 5 tons of force. Their stamina is very good - if within their natural climate of boggy marsh, swamp and deciduous rainforest. The longer they're in hotter climates or other inappropriate terrain the shorter their endurance becomes.
Resistance: 16/16. Another benefit of their dense muscle structure is that they can take a great deal of blunt trauma without having the equivalent drain on their health. However, they are not as resistant to poisons, penetrating weapons, or illnesses. In fact, their blood has the curious quality of being flammable, making them highly allergic to irritants like spices, feathers, heat, certain oils etc. If a reaction is set off within the body, they can literally spontaeneously combust.
Recovery: 5/16. They have perhaps the poorest recovery of any race. Once things get through their outer defenses, it is ectremely hard to rehabilitate them. Amputation, scarring, permanent sensativities and other diseases often linger after an illness. Magical healing is not very effective for them, meaning that if an ailment cannot be treated naturally or with potions, there is often nothing else that can be done.
NMP: 2/6. One of the weakest magical races in the world, the Speritanians believe in magic, they just have an extremely hard time connecting with it - which may explain why their recovery and wisdom are so low. They do make a point to learning magic through schooling or tutors, but rather than making a great deal of use in casting, they use their knowledge to recognize its presence and other's use of it. More likely, they hire or enslave Tirivahni or Suoro to deal with magical things for them.

The Pantheon
The Speritanians have one of the strictest religions in the known world, and one that brings them into frequent conflict with the other races. In the name of religion, Speritan has tried to conquer or subjugate every other race in the world at least once.

For example, if a character’s basic dice to roll for intelligence-based skills is 1, and he rolls a 3 on his die, he now has 3 extra die to roll on all his rolls, making his available dice for intelligence-based rolls 4 until the end of Task). Reckoning (Allows the Faithful to Smite one target with the power of Ingir, at the sacrificial cost of half of the total amount of points in each of the Faithful’s pools).

Irris – God of Water, knowledge

Ïllan – The New Age, destruction

Jalin – God of Nature, animals

Kalin – Goddess of Earth, crops

Lelir – Goddess of Machines, power
Malin – God of Travel, decision

The Avatars:
The Avatars were symbols, forms that the Gods took to preach their lessons to Speritanians. This section also includes the Holy Artefacts that are believed to retain the power of those avatars who weilded them in life.

Aelef – The Chariot – Electrum – Imäna/Speritan – The moons, tides:
The Speritanians believe the two moons in the sky to by the wheels of Ingir’s chariot, as she surveys and monitors the mortals in their quest to find divinity. As the tides go out, the Speritanians believe the Chariot to be drawing closer, the tides the wake of the shining wheels, and as the tides come back in, the believe the Chariot to be driving away again. As the moons shift through their phases, they believe the chariot to be turning, changing its course as the Goddess drags them through the streams of the Üllen towards fate inevitable. The Essentialists, or Imäna, ignore the decadent faith of Ingir e Speritan, which they believe to have lost the true message of Ingir, and scorn the Speritani Su, which they believe to be degenerative and obtuse. Worshippers of Aelef believe that Ingir will hear them and answer their cries for salvation, believe the wheels of Aelef will turn and so turn the course of fate that seems intent on heading for destruction.
Patron: Sages, Prophets, Astrologists, Fortune Tellers, Queens, Sorcerers, Necromancers.

Miracles: Huskline Ripple (a secondary chance on a failed action as if the failure had not happened), Time Blink (freezes all other players and gives the faithful a second action).

Anwin – Avatar of Pain – Copper – Speritani Su/Speritan – Childbirth:
Anwin was the Avatar of Pelir. The Goddess Pelir believed that true divinity could be obtained by making and raising a baby in a righteous fashion. Pelir took the form of the Avatar Anwin and married. The joining of an unholy man and a Goddess impregnated Anwin with the monster Kürräd, which after a painful three month gestation burst from Anwin’s womb, killing both the Avatar and the baby’s horrified father. The Speritani Su, or ‘Divine Flesh’ believers, believe that the only deities an impure mortal can reach are the Avatars, who were mortal, but still holy, and therefore a mediator between the two opposing existences. The Speritani Su pray to Anwin to ensure their children grow up healthy, faithful and caring of their families. An Anwin Babe is the term for a ‘perfect’ child. Some extend Anwin’s reign to all infants, and Anwin is often prayed to by those raising livestock or training familiars.
Patron: Midwives, mothers, Queens, Teachers, Beast Trainers, Ranchers.

Miracles: Good Birth (eases a child into the world without pain or complication), Summon Kürräd (summons Kürräd from Sutasia. Kürräd has an IP of 200, a HP of 300 and a PP of 400 and has 10 Strength dice, 5 Agility dice, 4 Intelligence dice, 2 Wisdom dice, 8 Resistance dice, 6 Recovery dice. Kürräd does 8 dice of Damage all of which is Penetrate damage to an Armour Class of 10. If Kürräd is ‘killed’ he returns to Sutasia and regains all his strength.)

Ätiss – Avatar of Luck – Electrum – Speritani Su/Speritan – Strategy, Luck:
Ätiss was the Avatar of Malin, who believed that the way to achieve divinity was by experiencing something divine. He took his form as Ätiss and went to the world in the guise of a wandering Magus. As Ätiss he told the people of Speritan about a place where one could see into the Other Realms, and claimed that this is where he came from. He convinced more and more people, all of whom discarded their wealth and belongings, took vows of a life of poverty and followed faithfully after Ätiss at the promise of seeing something divine, and so saving themselves. After many years of wandering around the marshes of Speritan, Ätiss finally found a place where the realms crossed and showed them the entrance to Vuvaithon. The followers, looking into the World of the Grey and seeing nothing, feeling only the discomfort and weariness that awaits on the other side, believed the entire escapade to be a hoax and Ätiss himself a Charlatan. Ätiss was stoned brutally and then drowned in the marsh; so died the Avatar of Malin. The Ätiss Friars still devote themselves to a life of poverty and inner contemplation, traveling nomadically looking for the elusive gate to heaven.
Patron: Ätiss Friars, Sages, Shadow Walkers, Nomads, Green Witches, Conjurers.

Miracles: Gateway (opens a gateway to one of the Other Realms (rolled at random by the Weaver) which remains open until the end of Task, through which any creature or race present can pass through at will), Safe Passage (acts as the combination of all Warding magic until the end of Quest).

Dalin – The Dragon, the castle

Eirin – The Sword, Courage

Ëlann – Avatar of Strength, health
Ouen – The Stone, questions

Runin – The Shield, Patience

The Zama:
The Zama were created by the creator of the Gods to test and punish weak Speritanians so that they might learn to overcome their flaws and attain divinity. There are different kinds of Zama: Horned, Tailed, Winged, and Wreathed Zama.

Asael – Horned Zama of Hatred – Steel – Üllen Zamalli or Zamana/Speritan – Hatred:
As one of the Fourth Class of Zama, or Horned Zama, Asael have a pair of golden ram’s horns sprouting from their heads. They are distinguishable by their red skin and white hair, and their weapon of choice is a pair of scimitars called Asa after the Asael. Asael exist to instil raging fury and blind anger into their victims. Their brand of hatred is the ceaseless, all-consuming frenzy that something or someone has done you horrible wrong, and you must avenge your honour, your pride and your safety by destroying the culprit. While not necessarily one of the more violent Zama, Asael use trickery, blackmail, cruelty and feuding to help them destroy their victims. The followers of Üllen Zamalli believe that the Asael were a race of lesser deities charged with delegating rightful retribution who were thrown back into the Üllen by Salin shortly after Yolann’s fall from grace for fear they would turn on Salin for his actions. The Zamananites, on the other hand, believe the Asael are the Zama who take particular dislike to mortals who do not show them the reverence they believe they deserve, and set about to destroying their lives. The followers of Zamana believe that their prayers protect them from the powers of the Zama, and allow them to direct their abilities at chosen targets.
Patron: Steel Rods, Zamana Priests, the vengeful, Berserkers, murderers and the hateful.
Miracles: Unending Rage (lasts until one Pool is depleted to at least half of its starting amount when Unending Rage is enacted, the target is incapable of stopping their current fight regardless of circumstances, and will continue to fight without mercy until all present (enemies and allies) are slain or they fall themselves), Asa Warrior (an Asael is summoned and will fight one specific target with the Asa blades until said target is dropped to zero in one Pool).

Ällikael – Horned Zama of Despair – Steel – Üllen Zamalli or Zamana/Speritan – Despair:
As one of the Fourth Class of Zama, or Horned Zama, Ällikael have a pair of glass goat’s horns sprouting from their heads. They are distinguishable by their blue skin and white hair, and their weapon of choice is a magical glass pike called Ällika after the Ällikael. Ällikael exist to instil crushing despair and swallowing sorrow into their victims. Their brand of sadness is the endless gloom, like the lethargy that affects you in the face destructive failure, only their despair descends when there has been no cause and depression nevertheless seizes its relentless grip. While not necessarily one of the more malevolent Zama, Ällikael spread their own despair and depression to their unsuspecting victims, causing them to waste away in hopelessness. The followers of Üllen Zamalli believe that the Ällikael were a race of lesser deities charged with delegating joy and celebration who were thrown back into the Üllen by Salin shortly after Yolann’s fall from grace because they did not rejoice in the fall of Yolann. The Zamananites, on the other hand, believe the Ällikael Zama are intermediaries between gods and humans, being demigods themselves, and hear mortals prayers first but whether or not they will deliver the prayers they hear or come to the aid of their followers is debateable. The followers of Zamana believe that their prayers protect them from the powers of the Zama, and allow them to direct their abilities at chosen targets.
Patron: Steel Rods, Zamana Priests, the depressed, intellectuals, failures and the desperate.
Miracles: Pit of Depression (casts the victim into an internal astral prison of despair and depression, making all physical action and all casting of making impossible; Pit of Depression last until the IP is dropped to zero, or the victim is killed by surrounding circumstances), Ällika Warrior (an Ällikael is summoned and will fight one specific target with the Ällika pike until said target is dropped to zero in one Pool).

Batakel – Tailed Zama of Evil – Steel – Üllen Zamalli or Zamana/Speritan – Evil:
Although one of the Third Class of Zama, or Tailed Zama, Batakel also have a pair of white bull’s horns sprouting from their heads and a set of golden wings as well as their long sinewy tail which sets them in the Third Class of Zama. They are distinguishable by their black skin and golden hair, and their weapon of choice is a golden trident called Bataka after the Batakel. Batakel exist to bring evil out of their victims through exploitation of weakness and sin. Their brand of evil is the knowledgeable wrong, when the conscience that screams against an action is ignored or silenced, when relish is taken in the evil and foul acts of sin. One of the most malevolent and destructive Zama, Batakel spread evil and enhance and inflame hidden and controlled weaknesses in their victims, causing their disgrace, downfall and eventual destruction. The followers of Üllen Zamalli believe that the Batakel were a race of lesser deities charged with delegating right from wrong who were thrown back into the Üllen by Salin shortly after Yolann’s fall from grace for fear they would revolt against Salin. The Zamananites, on the other hand, believe the Batakel to be the guardians of the Gate of the Üllen, and drag the unwilling and reluctant deaths into the madness by force. The followers of Zamana believe that their prayers protect them from the powers of the Zama, and allow them to direct their abilities at chosen targets.
Patron: Steel Rods, Zamana Priests, the malevolent, evildoers, the sinful and the damned.
Miracles: True Evil (victim loses control over his actions and as if possessed will commit acts of unspeakable atrocity, whether it be rape, murder, treachery etc until they are slain or commit suicide; no act committed under the influence of True Evil can earn Pool), Bataka Warrior (a Batakel is summoned and will fight one specific target with the Bataka trident until said target is dropped to zero in one Pool).
Batarel – Horned Zama of Idiocy – Steel – Üllen Zamalli or Zamana/Speritan – Idiocy:
As one of the Fourth Class of Zama, or Horned Zama, Batarel have a bison-plate horn on their brows and a set of bone tusks protruding from their mouths. They are distinguishable by their green skin and blue hair, and their weapon of choice is a mace called Batara after the Batarel. Batarel exist to rot the minds of their victims, reducing them to blithering fools and a laughingstock to all those around. Their brand of idiocy is the absolute oblivion to common sense, social constraints and tact, that causes the foolish to disgrace themselves and eventually endanger their safety by their stupid actions and ill-spoken words. One of the least malevolent of the Zama, Batarel gleefully spread their idiocy by dancing around appearing and disappearing to a sole victim at a time and find it highly amusing when their victims become no more than jokers and fools in turn, causing their disgrace, disrepute and eventual loss of family, friends and supporters. The followers of Üllen Zamalli believe that the Batarel were a race of lesser deities charged with delegating humour and relaxation who were thrown back into the Üllen by Salin shortly after Yolann’s fall from grace for making parodies of Salin’s judgement. The Zamananites, on the other hand, believe the Batarel to be lowest and weakest of the Zama, incapable of understanding its own divinity, and shunned by other Zama and mortals alike. The followers of Zamana believe that their prayers protect them from the powers of the Zama, and allow them to direct their abilities at chosen targets.
Patron: Steel Rods, Zamana Priests, the foolish, Speritanian jesters, the mentally disabled and the ill or senile.
Miracles: Prize Fool (the Batarel takes control of the victim like a puppet without strings or a hypnotist and makes a spectacle of the victim, either by making it perform degrading acts, or spout nonsense until at least half of the existing Pools are depleted since the enactment of Prize Fool; however, whatever qualities the batarel induced translate into permanent Attribute flaws, i.e. spouting nonsense becomes Confusing, making noises like an animal becomes Tongues, dancing like a fool becomes Compulsion etc.), Batara Warrior (a Batarel is summoned and will fight one specific target with the Batara mace until said target is dropped to zero in one Pool).
Bässael – Winged Zama of Fear – Steel – Üllen Zamalli or Zamana/Speritan – Fear:
As one of the First Class of Zama, or Winged Zama, Bässael have five black and green sinewy wings of tattered leather draped in spider’s webs. They are distinguishable by their black skin and green hair, and their weapon of choice is a spider’s web garrotte called Bässa after the Bässael. Bässael exist to instil utter fear into their victims. Their brand of fear is the incapacitating terror, the inexplicable fear, and the unsubstantiated panic that strikes straight for the heart and chills us to the bone. While not one of the more malevolent Zama, Bässael are cruel and relentless in spreading their horror and watching their victims become stressed, crazed and eventually fatally ill. The followers of Üllen Zamalli believe that the Bässael were a race of lesser deities charged with delegating bravery and boldness who were thrown back into the Üllen by Salin shortly after Yolann’s fall from grace for summoning the courage to stand up in Yolann’s defence. The Zamananites, on the other hand, believe the Bässael to be the Zama to travel back and forth from the Üllen and the living planes, pulling fear and terror from the Üllen and fastening its spider’s threads to mortals. Their proof of Bässael activity is the cobwebs that are left behind.
