Title: Legend of the Quill Illustration Featuring: Ahd'ar'ohk's writing desk, the Quill, the great prophecy and the inside title text. Source: Ul-Zaorith © me. This was the inside title illustration from the first novel of The Prophet's Tale, Legend of the Quill. Medium: Started as a pen sketched, digitally inked in Photoshop CS2.
Description: This was the final of 30 illustrations for the Legend of the Quill, and by far the most complex. Initially intended to be done solely in hatching, when grey tones became required for the maps, refusing to use them for this illustration became a moot point. With the grey tones, it gained a new layer of depth for the different textures involved here. Fun fact: I translated and then transliterated the script for this picture. The bottle reads Ulanyi or 'scarlet' in Common, and the parchment reads the first paragraph of Ahd'ar'ohk's prophecy as taken from the book.
Date Completed: 2010.
