Title: Professor Eggerton Comb's Flying Apothecary Featuring: Steampunk chickens Source: Commission Medium: Started from a pen sketch, digitally inked chickens, composed elements from photo references and raw painted in Photoshop CS2.
Description: For a commission, I was asked to portray two subjects that my client liked: chickens and the steampunk genre. I came up with the concept of anthropomorphising the chickens and that led to the idea of a rooster who travels by hot air balloon to small country towns and tries to sell his wares to simple country hens. So, I came up with the punniest rooster name I could, and the rest was a ridiculously long process. I learned a great deal on this piece, including how to draw grass, and improving my background skills.
Date Completed: February 2011.
